Notably, Wu has come up through the ranks in Tibet over the past four decades.<\/p>\n<p>Hunan party chief Xu Shousheng, 63, has been replaced by his deputy and governor, Du \u00adJiahao, 61. Vice-minister of industry Xu Dazhe was named as Hunan deputy party chief.<\/p>\n<p>Yunnan governor Chen Hao, 62, was promoted to replace the province\u2019s party chief, Li Jiheng, 59.<\/p>\n<p>While Xinhua said Li\u2019s new appointment would be made public later, there is speculation he will take up the top party job in Inner Mongolia, another ethnic-minority region.<\/p>\n<p>Both Chen Hao and Du have extensive experience in Shanghai and analysts believe their promotions are due to President Xi Jinping\u2019s brief stint as Shanghai party boss in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Political analysts said the reshuffle showed power-jockeying had gathered pace in the lead-up to the party congress to be held late next year.<\/p>\n<p>Zhang, who was parachuted into Xinjiang after the 2009 riots, has long been rumoured to be replaced due to his inability to curb the rise of ethnic unrest and separatist violence in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Chen Quanguo is believed to be Premier Li Keqiang\u2019s prot\u00e9g\u00e9.
