The international community didn’t have an opportunity to criticize China for not disclosing Liu’s health conditions sooner. China denied Liu’s repeated requests for medical treatment abroad. The entire world could not persuade China to agree to Liu’s requests.

Some are still condemning the Chinese Communist regime for denying Liu’s requests for medical treatment. But the real culprit is not the Communist regime or party. Rather it’s Xi Jinping and his corrupt companions. Liu Xiaobo’s murderer is none other than Xi Jinping himself.

Liu Xiaobo’s death reveled to the world again just how detached the Xi Jinping administration is from humanity, civilization, and democracy. Like Liu was unable to realize his dream of sending his wife abroad, a billion Chinese people were unable to express their condolences. Rather, these people were forced to keep silent and even express the opposite of what was in their hearts.

As we observed, the Chinese media and social media, possessing the most extensive propagating power in the world, remained silent on Liu Xiaobo’s death. How is it possible that no one among a billion people in mainland China stood up to speak consciously and publicly for the heroic man who dedicated his life for them? At least 1000 or even 100 of that one billion should have spoken. Of course, there were many who wanted to speak. Their inability to stand up and speak was due to the iron fisted rule of the Xi Jinping regime.

If Xi Jinping hadn’t prioritized protecting and advancing his power over the human rights of a billion people, Liu Xiaobo would not have been imprisoned and his health put in jeopardy. If Xi Jinping had the courage to tolerate opposition, Liu Xiaobo would not left in torment, but would have parted from us without worry of his wife’s uncertain fate. What can we possibly expect from a leader who has no mercy even for a man on the verge of death?

I’m surprised that those world leaders and international organization officials who speak of human rights, justice, and peace aren’t a bit disturbed by Xi Jinping despite Liu Xiaobo’s death as they continue to talk with Xi Jinping with smiling faces.

Liu Xiaobo was a man who never spilled a drop of blood. His only weapons were his pen and voice. He who had no aspirations besides democracy and justice. He belonged to the same ethnic group as the officials of the regime that persecuted him. His treatment has forced me to think deeply about the treatment of those imprisoned for struggling for self-determination –Uyghur political prisoners who do not share the same ethnicity, language, religion as their persecutors. I wonder what condition Ilham Tohti, whose lawyer was arrested, is in today. What of those prisoners of conscience that to this day haven’t even had access to lawyers, such as Gulmira Imin, Memhetjan Abdulla, and Omerjan Sidiq? What is their condition? What about Abdukerim Abduweli whose 12-year sentence was increased to 25 years when he refused to give up prayer? Is he still alive?

Rebiya Kadeer/ We found out about Liu Xiaobo’s health condition 17 days before he died.
