More than $960m was spent to combat poverty last year, with about 80 percent of the funds earmarked for four impoverished prefectures: Kashgar, Hotan, Kizilsu and Aksu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.7; background-color: rgb(252, 252, 252);\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Chinese officials will be sent to 192 areas in the four counties and work until 2020 to bring people out of poverty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.7; background-color: rgb(252, 252, 252);\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">The drive is part of a broader push by China&#8217;s ruling Communist Party to tackle rural poverty and to raise the annual income of citizens above the official poverty line of $362 by 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 20px; font-family: Georgia; font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.7; background-color: rgb(252, 252, 252);\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">China&#8217;s gross domestic product per person is $8,123, according to the World Bank.
